Trunk Trotters | Publication Design | Storytelling

This book is a run-through into a journey of shifting houses every two years but the sense of home remained constant throughout.

Timeline : 3 Weeks  Role: Individual Designer

Introduction

The book originated from all those awkward questions raised during informal conversations, which are bound to come up when you say that one of your parents was in the forces.

The book focuses on life experiences from the lens of a defence family. It expresses joy in writing about this shared experience, and cultural diversity. The book emphasizes how these experiences shape personality, resilience, and the meaning of "home" amidst continuous change.

My Impact

  • Authentically portraying military family experiences: Captures the realities of moves, deployments, and adaptations. Reflects both joys and challenges, helping families feel understood

  • Celebrating military family strength and values: Honors sacrifices and resilience. Instills pride by portraying service members as heroes to their children

Phase 3 Ideating on the solution

  • Phone makers and Android developers are key decision-makers with high impact and influence.

  • Emergency departments are crucial end-users but have limited influence on system design.

  • Android users and persons in danger have significant influence but less direct impact on system changes.

  • There's a need to balance technical capabilities (driven by high-impact stakeholders) with user needs (represented by high-influence stakeholders).

Conclusion

This book fosters a sense of belonging within the defence community by highlighting shared experiences like frequent relocations and adapting to new cultures. By recounting these familiar challenges, it reassures readers that they're not alone in their journey, building pride in the

resilience, adaptability, and unity unique to their lifestyle. The stories serve as a reminder that despite the constant movement, the sense of home and community is rooted in the shared pride and identity of being part of a defence family.
